Basically, the Wacom models have better drivers and far better support on both Windows and Mac platforms. I you buy some other no name brand tablet you are going to be taking a risk in how it reacts with other programs and hardware. I'd recommend the Intuos 2. Problems with Wacom Tablet
Using 52.16 WHQL XP/2K driver set right now. Using a NEC Multisync LCD 1760v TFT flat screen monitor and would love to have a 21". This one has 460:1 contrast ratio so is great is a Wacom Intuos 2 9x12, because it fits my drawing style sizewise, has 1024 pressure level resolution, and it also detects pen tilt.

The issues are Mac specific and tablet driver specific, but not tablet model specific. They reproduce in FW MX 2004 when Wacom tablet drivers 4.7.9-2 or 4.78-3 are installed on Mac OS X using a number of different Wacom tablet models (Graphire, Intuos, etc.) The work-around is to uninstall the newer Wacom tablet
